Seattle has been on Gary’s mind since he spent that fateful summer before senior year here. It was as gorgeous there this past week as in memory. We took the ferry into downtown from Bainbridge Island, and between stints at a densely-packed Airbnb in West Seattle, we explored the isthmus in all its waterside glory.
We originally planned to come here when we couldn’t get Vampire Weekend tickets in the Bay Area, and figured the Friday show could be the launchpad for a great weekend getaway. The show was worth it, but there was so much more. Two of the biggest cinnamon rolls we’ve ever eaten, the sun setting over the Olympic Mountains, and the everyday bustle of a big city. It was a good opportunity for us to talk, enjoy great food, see movies (the disappointing, Ad Astra, and the lovable, Downton Abbey), and try and figure out why our Airbnb had a giant snake in a glass box.
Our last day was our touristy-est: Hampton conquering his fear of height at the top of the Space Needle, and us exploring the twisty glass forest at the Chihuly Gardens at its foot. After a dinner of amazing Thai street food from Bangrak Market, we headed to bed, and woke to stomachs growling for The World’s Largest Cinnamon Roll. Our veins rushing with the sugar, we drove north, and crossed into British Columbia.
Looks like Hampton could have conquered his fear of heights by just standing on top of that Cinnamon Bun!!!!!
Looks like a super cool place to hang out. Thanks for all of the great pics.
Enjoy your time/trip n.o.t.b.
